The Wrap Around Youth Support Programme (WAYS)
This project will deliver a combined wrap-around youth support (WAYS) service to young people aged 13-17.
The project will address the personal and social issues identified by young people who are involved in or who have had contact with the care and justice systems, and those who are not currently in any form of education or training. WAYS will engage young people and their families and offer a range of support services in order to encourage collective family change and problem solving. The project will link to Belfast Health and Social Care Trust which will provide specialised interventions and services including Child and Adolescent Mental health Service (CAMHS), Drug and Alcohol Mental Health Service (DAMHS) and Family Therapy services.
Challenge for youth will be delivering a range of Personal development and Adventure Learning interventions within this project. These include:
1) The Understanding Choices programme (12 sessions over 10 weeks)
2) The Time for Change programme (8 week personal development course including 5 day residential)
3) Youth Mentoring (Mentors of different ages with a variety of skills will be recruited and young people will be able to choose who they wish to be paired with)
4) Informal drop-in support - out of hours (Belfast City Centre)
